If you buy an other pair of 12″calipers, you have too much money!

I work at a very large tool and die company. The job I do at is very abusive to calipers, alot more than when I ran a CNC mill. In the past five years I have been through a dial pair of Mitutoyo,Brown and Sharp,Fowler, and an Aerospace brand that I bought through J&L. And I have had them repired countless times. The same thing happens every time. Something goes wrong with the rack or pinion gear like a chip gets in there or something and bam! Clean them out and they are still not working correctly. I bought these thinking no rack! no gear no problem! I was right so far. I have had them for only three months but I can’t believe how accurate they still are cuz I have been just tossing them on to the tool cart just to see what they can take for $35.51. So far im happy! They are length is not as wide as the more expensive brands nor are they as heavy but,they work perfectly and bang for the buck is insane. Once the word gets out about these, the big boys are going to have to come down on there prices.

I bought my first dial caliper about 1980 and it was a Starret with a price tag of about $150. Over the years I have seen the best of them hit the floor and be no more good. Dial calipers are usually good to +/-.001″ and if you have something you needed an accurate measurement for you didn’t use these. It took up until about 10 years ago before I won a digital caliper in a tool lot sale. It is a Japanese make and I have come to love it and never needed to compare it to an outside mic as I use these for what they are intended. These calipers for the price are well worth the money if they can hold a +/- .001″ (.002″ total) dimension. If you are clumsy like me you may drop them tomorrow and be happy you didn’t spend more than you did. Don’t forget either you have to develop a feel for using measuring instruments and that can make a big difference in taking measurements.

As advertised. All button features work well: Zero out, mm to in. Spare battery saves you a buck fity. Other reviewers suggested quality issues. Not the most robust design I agree, and not $100 either. Maybe we’re fortunate having some careful users, but all is working well. We’re thrilled with it!!

excellent tool and great value

I’v had this item for about a month now and not a day goes by that I dont use it. It is extremely versatile as it measures both inside and outside measurements but depth as well down to the 2nd decimal (0.00). It comes with an extra battery and a flimsy plastic case. The battery that was in it when it arrived was dead (fortunately the second was included or it would have been sent back). The case is a hard plastic, but rather thin with a foam insert. The case walls dent and bend easily. By itself the tool deserves 5 stars, but the dead battery and a somewhat flimsy case drops my opinion of the overall package to 4 stars.
Throw out the case and keep the calipers, For the price its a great tool for your shop (if it doesn’t come on when you first open it, switch the batteries. I noticed this tool had been packaged in 2006 which explains why the original battery was dead).

precisely what was needed

This is exactly what I needed. I couldn’t be more pleased. I need precision but not ultra micro precision so this works very well indeed. I use it in artwork so it is indespensible for ratio analysis and proportional alignment in 3-D. I heartedly recommend this instrument.

Better then Expected

Received this caliper not sure what to expect. After testing it out was more then pleased with its accuracy. I loved the ability to swap between SAE and MM as some of the instructions that I have are giving measurements in Metric. I give it 4 stars, and for the price it definitely can’t be beat.
